Itβs that time of year again! It is time to get those gardens really going. In having a conversation with a friend about gardening one day, I found that she did not believe that you could just plant potatoes on the ground, cover them with straw, and that they would grow. I had to show her (and everyone else) that it could, in fact, be done. If you want to learn more about no-dig potatoes, read on. If not, check it out anyways. This is fascinating stuff π
Grab some organic potatoes that are starting to sprout, and let’s get started!
I asked a neighbor that had an old straw bail out by her house if I could have some, and then I put the potatoes on the ground and covered them up. After that, all I had to do was water them.
I dug them up.
Rinsed them off.
Then I put them in the fridge until we wanted to eat them!
That is it!
Any questions?
Hmmm, this is fascinating to me! We had a huge garden growing up, but I’ve never seen gardening of them done this way. Now I want to try it, haha! π
You should! I found a gardening video at the library, and they talked about this method. I have never been able to get a lot of potatoes from it. I am not sure why. Maybe I need to water them more?
How did she think potatoes grew?
Burried in the ground. Which is the other way.
